Have you heard what the first female president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, experienced during her recent visit to Turkey? Well, she wasn’t treated like a commission president at all. Rather, what happened to her indeed mirrored the poor treatment that so many women around the world get day in day out. She tells it all!

In her later talk in Brussels, she quotes the US vice-president Kamala Harris, saying that the status of women is the status of democracy. So true! Van der Leyen now makes herself heard, talking about disrespect she experienced for no other obvious reason but simply because she is a woman. Even more importantly, she asks what about the millions of women who cannot make themselves heard and suggests measures that need to be introduced to fight that. Gosh, so many wrongs to be righted …
